Walter
M. Embrey, Jr. 
President
The name “Embrey” has long been recognized in the real estate community. In the 30-plus years since his first job with an Austin homebuilding company, Walter M. Embrey, Jr. has helped to create homes for thousands of families and businesses. His philosophy of developing unique, high quality product on every site has earned Walter and the entire Embrey organization a reputation for creativity and excellence.
Walter, a native Texan from San Antonio, attended the University of Texas at Austin and received a B.B.A. in Finance in 1968. His real estate career began in 1967, while still in school, with a large Austin homebuilding company. In 1971, Walter joined Jagger Associates, Inc. as Vice President of Construction. Shortly thereafter, he became Executive Vice President of Operations and during his tenure he developed several commercial projects, single family homes and over 6,000 apartments. In 1974, Walter formed Embrey Investments, Inc., the forerunner of the current Embrey Partners, Ltd. Based in San Antonio, Walter, and his partners have helped guide over 150 major successful real estate projects throughout the continental U.S., with over 25,000 apartments and condominiums and more than 6.0 million square feet of commercial development.
Walter was a founding member, and is on the Executive Council, of
the Real Estate Finance & Investment Center at the University of Texas
at Austin. He also served on the Advisory Board of the Architecture
School at the University of Texas and served for ten years as the
Chairman of the President’s Council of the Real Estate Council of
San Antonio. Walter has also served on various other boards, including
the San Antonio Chapter of the National Association of Industrial
and Office Parks, the North San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and the
National Multi-Housing Council. In 1995, Walter M. Embrey, Jr. was
recognized for his business and civil achievements as San Antonio's
Entrepreneur of the Year. In 2003, Walter was awarded the Philip M.
Barshop Founder's Award for excellence and leadership in the real
estate industry.

Michael
L. Elder 
Chief Operating Officer
After 22 years in public accounting, Mike Elder left his senior partner role to join Embrey in January 2006. During his tenure in public accounting, Mike focused on the operational, strategic and transactional needs of his closely held real estate clients, including the Embrey organization. His long standing relationship with our company has allowed for a smooth transition into the chief operating officer position where Mike’s primary responsibilities are corporate operations and finance.
Mike is a high honors graduate from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting. He began his career in public accounting in the real estate section of a national accounting firm. In 1985, he joined a boutique local firm specializing in real estate development. By the time Mike left, the firm had grown into one of the largest firms in the region. Mike is an active member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Texas Society of CPAs, and the Real Estate Council of San Antonio.

Douglas
A. Koch 
Senior Vice President, CPA
Directing, monitoring and
reporting the flow of resources through the varied Embrey enterprises
is Doug's primary responsibility. His financial management
duties include budget preparation and communication with lenders
and partners, corporate and partnership tax planning and reporting,
and the documentation and closing of land acquisitions, sales, and
construction loans.
While serving in the U.S. Air Force, Doug earned a Bachelor's degree
from the University of Colorado and an MBA from Arizona State University.
Prior to joining Embrey he worked with a national public accounting
firm. He is an active member of the American Institute
of CPAs and the Texas Society of CPAs.

Cynthia
J. Comee 
Controller
Overseeing all corporate accounting
functions, Cindy also supervises the six person Embrey accounting
staff. She and her Team monitor job cost, property management and
partnership accounting as well as compiling and producing monthly
financial statements. Her duties include working with lenders during
construction and cash management with various financial firms. She
also is the point person working with annual audits and preparation
of tax returns.
Cindy's responsibilities also include overseeing the Embrey computer
network and working with the firm's IT consultants providing maintenance
and security. She monitors the accounting software applications and
is the company representative to the software users' group.
One of the longest-tenured Embrey members, Cindy joined the firm
in 1979 and has pursued career-related studies at the University
of Texas at San Antonio.
